Just moved to Cove and had been looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Finally found this place, and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The wait was a little long (about 30 minutes), but the food was worth it. The egg rolls were delicious, cooked perfectly crispy and hot, not soggy like at some other places. The chicken lo mein was packed full, almost overflowing, and the beef and broccoli were amazing. My family loved everything, especially the rice, which was some of the best I’ve ever had. You can tell it was made fresh and that they take pride in what they serve. Overall, an excellent experience. I’ll definitely be back. 10/10!

The interior is simple yet inviting, with a calm, relaxed ambiance perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Whether you’re a Szechuan cuisine enthusiast or a newcomer to its bold flavors, this restaurant delivers a satisfying culinary journey that blends heat, sweetness, and savory richness with every bite.
The restaurant's menu offers an extensive selection of dishes, from sizzling stir-fries to hearty soups. A standout on the menu is their signature Szechuan hot pot, which features a combination of meats and vegetables immersed in a fiery broth. The broth itself is packed with intense flavors that are balanced perfectly with the spiciness Szechuan cuisine is famous for. Whether you like it mild or hot, you can customize the spice level to suit your taste.
One of the most popular dishes here is the Kung Pao Chicken. The tender chicken pieces are tossed in a rich, spicy sauce with roasted peanuts and a medley of vegetables. It’s a perfect example of how Szechuan cuisine balances the heat with a savory, tangy twist. If you’re looking for something a little more daring, the Mapo Tofu is a must-try. This dish offers tofu in a spicy, peppercorn-infused sauce that’s both numbing and fiery, truly capturing the essence of authentic Szechuan cuisine.
Beyond the classic hot dishes, Szechuan Chinese Restaurant also offers an impressive variety of stir-fries and noodle dishes. The shrimp with garlic sauce is another crowd favorite, with perfectly cooked shrimp, crunchy vegetables, and a sauce that strikes the perfect balance between garlic and spice. Pair that with their hand-pulled noodles, and you’ve got a meal that’s both satisfying and full of flavor.
For those who enjoy a bit of variety in their meals, the restaurant also provides combo plates where you can choose a main dish and pair it with fried rice or steamed rice. This makes it easy to try a range of flavors in a single meal.
What sets Szechuan Chinese Restaurant apart from others is their attention to detail when it comes to flavor and spice. The chefs here use traditional Szechuan peppercorns, which are key to giving the cuisine its unique numbing-spicy quality. Whether you're new to the heat or a seasoned fan of spicy foods, they ensure that every dish is crafted with the right amount of seasoning and heat, giving you that authentic Szechuan taste you crave.
The restaurant doesn’t just offer great food-it also provides excellent customer service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to offer recommendations or adjust a dish according to dietary preferences. Their commitment to making sure guests feel welcome and well-fed makes it a favorite spot for locals in Copperas Cove.
For dessert, don’t miss the crispy fried banana. It’s the perfect sweet ending to a flavorful meal, with its warm, gooey filling encased in a crispy shell and drizzled with honey. If you’re in the mood for something more refreshing, try the chilled mango pudding, a light and creamy treat that provides a nice contrast to the spicy dishes.
In terms of value, Szechuan Chinese Restaurant offers generous portion sizes at reasonable prices, making it an excellent choice for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. We got take-out from Szechuan Chinese Restaurant in Copperas Cove on a Thursday in our quest to find good Chinese food in the Central Texas area. The restaurant is located well off the main road in a large strip mall. Except for the sign, from the outside it doesn’t even look like a place to eat. Inside, it looks like what you would expect of a Chinese restaurant. The owner was working at the front counter and was very friendly. We got the Bo Bo Platter (for 2) as an appetizer. It has (2 of each) egg rolls, beef steak (sticks), fried shrimp, BBQ ribs, crab puffs, fried chicken wings. The egg rolls and fried shrimp were okay, but we wouldn’t get them again. Both the beef steak and BBQ ribs had good flavor but were overcooked and not worth getting. The crab puffs were our favorite and we also like the chicken wings. Next time, we will only get an order of crab puffs and skip the rest. For our main courses, we got the House Special Lo Mein and the Orange Chicken. The House Special Lo Mein has chicken, beef, and shrimp. The Lo Mein had good flavor and just the right amount of sauce. We both liked it and would get it again. The Orange Chicken was okay. The flavoring was right on, but there was way too much sauce and breading on the chicken. It sometimes seemed like we were eating only breading and no chicken! The fried rice that came with it was good. Finding a good Chinese restaurant is challenging in Central Texas without going down to Georgetown, Round Rock, or even Austin, where there are a lot more options. Szechuan Chinese Restaurant is a family owned and operated local business, and the owner told us that she has been in this location for 30 years. I have been pretty critical of some of the food, but overall, I recommend that you give this local business a try. I’m confident that you will find something that you would like to eat here (without having to drive all the way to Austin!).
I have gone to this restaurant for over 10 years. It is the best Chinese restaurant that I have been to large amounts of food portion great atmosphere friendly staff and clean. I recommend this to everyone that loves Chinese food. My favorite is the shrimp Sch style and the combination fried rice.
Good food met wonderful people I believe most people order intake out
The service is wonderful and the prices are good too. My only take is sometimes the pieces of chicken looks a bit suspicious and the texture is a bit off but other then that, the flavor is great the portions are very filling. I gave atmosphere a three out of five because when I was sitting in there the table was little sticky and the place was dim and kinda of lack luster.
The food was a 5/5 full of flavor I definitely will be back!
Our go-to choice for Chinese in Copperas Cove. We order to go and always have enough for several meals. I get General Tso's, my wife gets Lo Mein. We always get plenty of egg Rolls to eat with leftovers. The long time owner is very friendly, has always been.
